Tommy Tye
Tommy is a naturalist, storyteller and writer living with his family in North Georgia. Always a storyteller at heart, he began telling stories publicly as part of his work as a naturalist. He has found that the Art of Story brings nature alive for his students.
It’s no surprise then, that most of Tommy’s stories have a nature theme. He tells fables and folk tales from around the world, humorous stories, and tall tales. His favorites though, are pourquoi stories that provide accurate descriptions of natural phenomena, but offer colorful explanations of the reasons they occur. He also enjoys including audience participation, wildlife sounds, and animal characterizations in his stories.
Storytelling provides far more than entertainment. Through the ages, humans hunkered around the fire sharing their hopes, fears, triumphs and tragedies. Stories bonded community members, preserved cultural components and transmitted the collective wisdom of the community. Nothing has changed.
