Linda Martin
Linda Martin is a storyteller and teacher librarian who performs at festivals, schools and libraries around the country, from New York to Hawaii, and points in between. Most recently, she appeared at the National Storytelling Concert at the American Library Association Conference in Washington. She also taught storytelling skills to public librarians at the Association of Library Services to Children conference in Atlanta. A Georgia School Librarian of the Year (2007) and recipient of the Bechtel Fellowship from the Association for Library Services to Children, she helps both educators and students alike learn through story.
As a performer, Linda specializes in ghost stories, appearing at the Stone Mountain Tour of Southern Ghosts and the Gainesville, Georgia Ghost walk, in addition to appearances at libraries and private events.
Her children’s performances feature traditional folklore from a variety of cultures. Her stories utilize audience participation and music for an engaging, entertaining program.
Her adult programs feature deeper stories drawn from traditional folklore as well as original stories filled with humor and emotion. One listener said, “You told that story about Elvis and I about wet my pants! Then you told that story about your friend and I couldn’t help but tear up a little.”
Linda figures if she makes you lose bodily fluids, she has done her job as a storyteller!
