Jonah McDonald
Jonah McDonald says pilgrimage is what ties his life together–telling stories, running Sure Foot Adventures, a wilderness & adventure travel company, and seeking personal growth through spirituality. As a child in Memphis, his early pilgrimages were taken with his father, a storyteller himself. Jonah’s favorite stories have to do with tricksters such as Jack (of beanstalk fame) and Brer Rabbit. He also writes personal stories stemming from his own pilgrimages.
He has been telling stories since he was a kid, but has only recently started telling in public. Jonah has performed at Winter StoryFest, Atlanta Tellabration, Counterpane School’s Evening for the Arts, and many other events.
Jonah serves the Board of the Southern Order of Storytellers as Treasurer and Web Manager and regularly participates in the Decatur Cluster Group.
In 2002, Jonah hiked all 2172 miles of the Appalachian Trail, an experience that influences his storytelling and also led him to start his wilderness and adventures travel company. Jonah brings storytelling into his work with Sure Foot Adventures. He always tells stories around the campfire whenever leading a backpacking trip and utilizes his experiences in the woods when telling stories.
