Campfire Story Concert at Dawson County Public Library
Shivers, goose bumps, spine-tingles – and s’mores of course! You’ll find all of these things at the third annual Campfire Storytelling Concert beginning at 7:30 PM on Saturday, October 10th at the Dawson County Public Library!
Join us around the campfire in the field behind the library for good, old-fashioned jump/ghost stories, s’mores and lots of fun! Nationally renowned storyteller – Kim Weitkamp – will headline the evening, joined by three Southern Order of Storytellers tellers – Debbie Weston From, Shannon McNeal, and Tracy Sue Walker.
And before the concert, join us for a wonderful story coaching opportunity. Kim – who will be a featured teller at this year’s National Storytelling Festival – will share her talents with us on Saturday, October 10th from 1-4 PM by conducting a group coaching session for storytellers. Come prepared with a story (10 minutes or less in length) and ideas to share. The workshop is $10 per person with all proceeds going to the library for next year’s campfire. To sign up for this session, please call the library at 706-344-3690 ex. 27.
This year’s concert is being generously sponsored by Southern Order of Storytellers, National Storytelling Network, Rotary Club of Dawson County, Dawson County Tourism, the Dawson County Women’s Club, Friends of the Dawson County Public Library, Amicalola Falls State Park and Lodge, and The Home Depot Dawsonville. And this year’s poster art was created by award-winning illustrator Mark Braught.
The Campfire Storytelling Concert is FREE and open to all! Fun will begin at 7:30 PM with S’mores, followed by stories at 8PM. Be sure to bring a chair or blanket for sitting and a jacket in case the night turns cool. So…when the weather gets chilly, and the leaves begin to fall, get ready for campfire fun at your library!
