Auditions

SOS holds annual auditions each June for all events in the subsequent year: primarily Tellabration (Nov 20, 2010), the Carter Library series (Nov 26, 2010 & July 4, 2011), and Winter StoryFest (March 18-19, 2011).

2010 Audition Dates:

Sunday, June 27, 2010, 3 pm - 6 pm at North Decatur Presbyterian Church at 611 Medlock Rd., Decatur, GA 30033

Monday, June 28, 2010, 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm at the Roswell Visitors Bureau at 617 Atlanta Street, Roswell, GA 30075

Two Ways to Audition:

1. In person with:  Five minute audition piece.

This may be any portion of a story: beginning, middle, end … whatever shows up to your best advantage.

Bring a story that showcases your best storytelling skills.  It does not have to be the story you will tell at a particular event.

Be prepared to list stories you have that fit a particular genre or audience, such as children, adult, Thanksgiving, or Patriotic.

Also, be prepared to list your availability for events.

Note: A timer will be used for auditions. Two-min. and one-min. warnings will be given.

2. In absentia, by submitting CD, DVD, or audio tape.

If you cannot audition in person, you may send a DVD or CD.  You must include written instructions including which 5 minute segment judges should use. Judges must receive the electronic submission by June 27.

If no instructions are sent, judges will listen to the first 5 minutes on the CD or DVD.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL AUDITIONS: Kept on File For Future Use!

1. Bio:   Fifty words or less to be used in publicity and program for the event.

2.  Headshot:   to be used in publicity and events programs.

A headshot is typically a black and white 8 x 10, but we will work with what you have!  If you do not have a headshot, we will have a camera at the audition site, and an amateur photographer will take your picture.
