Save the Date! “Tell It in the Mountains – 2014” is already scheduled for Sunday, February 2 – Wednesday, February 5, 2014, at the Brasstown Valley Resort and Spa. Dolores Hydock will be the workshop leader. Contact Janice Butt at 404-226-7896 or firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
SOS Members Jan Cribbs, Debbie Weston From and Hannah From will be telling during an “Appalachian Evening,” an evening of music and storytelling at the Center Theatre, Sautee Nacoochee Community Association on Saturday, May 25, at 7:30 PM – www.snca.org
Part of the audience will be a tour group organized by the German-American Institute (GAI). Initially founded by the American Military Government in Germany in 1946, the GAI has become a bi-national institute and a meeting place for members of both nations, where points of view can be discussed and values, ideals and cultural achievements can be exchanged. A college friend of Jan’s teaches an English language course at the GAI in Tübingen, Germany, and will be leading this group through their experience of some of the American South – and Appalachia. Talk about a cultural experience!
Come and hear stories from or about veterans of wars and conflicts from the Spanish-American War to the present. (Yes, really – the Spanish-American War.) The program will again be sponsored and co-hosted by the Southern Order of Storytellers and the Callanwolde Fine Arts Center; it will be held at Callanwolde on Sunday, November 10, 2013, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Please click here for more information.
