On Saturday, August 4th, storytellers and story listeners gathered to remember Jean Stromberg. Jean, an active storyteller in Cobb and member of SOS passed away too soon, several years ago. Her friends and family decided to remember Jean and her love of stories by hosting a yearly Jean Stromberg Memorial Storytime. For the past 5 years, the Cobb County Libraries have been home to the hour-long program filled with memories of Jean and great storytelling.
This year’s program was part of the Cobb Library System’s Stars of the Library Summer Reading Finale, making it the largest audience yet for the event. Storytellers B.J. Abraham, Cathy Kaemmerlen, and Natalie Jones entertained a packed house of children and their families. They took turns telling crowd-pleasing interactive tales. Jean Stomberg’s friends and family were part of the audience.
Other SOS tellers who have been part of the Jean Stromberg Memorial Storytime in past years are: Jo Sanders, Tersi Bendiburg, and Eenee Ferrano. It was a great night for stories to honor Jean.
