When Pat’s longtime soul mate Sam becomes Sheila, Pat tries tap dancing, Buddhism, shopping, and more in her quest to discover what “soul mate” means.
This story of a marriage surviving change and loss was inspired by Dr. Virginia Erhardt’s book, “Head Over Heels: Women Who Stay with Cross-Dressers and Transsexuals”.
Written and performed by Sharon Mathis, the one act play premiered at the Academy Theatre in June and will also be seen at the the Southern Comfort conference, the Atlanta Queer Literary Festival, and the New Orelans Fringe Theater Festival.
Sharon Mathis is a writer, actor, storyteller, and psychologist in Atlanta. She’s appeared at the Academy Theatre, Ladyfest South, Atlanta Storytelling Festival, national professional conferences, and venues from bars to churches.
Performances are Friday and Saturday nights, Sept. 4 and 5, 11 and 12 at 8pm at the Academy Theatre in Avondale Estates.
